Rovers on Adventure Hike

Four rovers namely Visura Munasinghe, Thilina Jayawardene, Chanaka Bandara, Rajitha Navarathne have completed an Adventure hike statring from Sri Pada(Adams Peak) and via Sapthya Kanya mountain range(Seven maidens) to Hanthana mountain range.

News From Dharmaraja Scouts

1st KandyDharmaraja Scout Group, Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Annual Scouts, Parents and Old Scouts Day

November 30th Thursday,4.00pm, Dharmaraja Auditorium, Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Sri Lanka.

The annual scouts day has been postponed to November 30th.

The Chief Guest will be Mr Soma Weerakoon The Chief Scout Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scouts Association.

Special Guests will be Mr Abdhulla Rasheed, The Director , Asia Pacific Scouts Association and Mr Eric Wu The President of Asia Pacific Scouts Association.

This day will be a very special day for the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group since the special guests Mr Abdualla Rasheed and Mr eric Wu will name the Lake View Pak International Scout Centre at Dharmaraja College Kandy as the BP Hill in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of scouting which falls in year 2007.

It is a great honor for the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja scouts to be selected as a special scouts centre among the worldwide scout community.



Mr Shantha Madurawe appointed as the National Training Scout Commissioner, Sri Lanka Scouts Association

Mr Madurawe a patron of Old Rajans Scout Association has been appointed as the National Training Commissioner by the Sri Lanka Scouts Association.

The Old Rajans Scout Association wishes him best of luck in the new office.

Mr Sarath Matharaarachchi- Group Scout Leader To Undergo A Training In China

Mr Sarath Matharaarachci the group scout leader of the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scouts, Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Sri Lanka will attend a scout training conducted by the Scout Association of China.

He is going to complete a Wood Badge training course for Rover Scouts and on completion will be the only Wood Badge holder for Rover scouts in Sri Lanka.

Dharmaraja Scouts On Challenge
Two Dharmaraja Scout teams will participate for the Dehigama Challenge Trophy hike competition organized by the Kingswood College Scout Group and The University Of Peradeniya Hike Competition organized by the explorers Club of University of Peradeniya today 5th Novermeber 2006.

ORSA wishes good luck for both teams.

The Rajans are Back In Business


1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scouts Back to Everest

To mark the 100th year annuasary of world scouting, the world scout organization organizes a ceromony to name one of the peak mountains located in Himalaya range in the name or "Loard Baden Powel".The height of this mountain is 5825m from the sea level.This ceromony will be held in Kathmandu, on 14th September. Members representing all the world will be present for this occasion.


Sri Lanka Contingent which participates this occasion is an all-Rajan contingent including the Leader.This contingent leaves the island on 20th September.


A small ceromony was held in the Lake view park international scout centre to hand over the country flag and the school flag to the contingent members on 6th September. The cheif scout commisioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association was also present for this ceromony.

Dharmaraja Scout Communication Unit Commences Operations

A project launched by the Old Rajans Scout Association – The Scout Communication unit will commence operations on 5th October at the Dharmaraja College premises at the Lake View Park International Scout Center.

The facility will offer stationery items, Telephone calls etc to the college community.

Dharmaraja Celebrates Wesak of Year 2550

1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scouts

The Dharmaraja Scouts continued their traditional Mal Dansela at Dalada Maligawa premises from 9am on wesak Poya Day.

Also they participated for the Wesak Lantern completion held at the Kandy District Scout headquarters.

The Dharmaraja Wesak Pandol the oldest Pandol in Kandy at Lake View Park

The Dharmaraja Wesak Pandol which is hoisted annually at the Hill Top of Dharmaraja College was put up this year too. The Pandol which is organized by the Buddhist Association of Dharmaraja College has a long history of nearly 50 years.


The Wesak Pandol which is being put up at the highest point of Kandy town could be viewed from every corner of the Kandy Town.


Mr Gamini the Electrical Technician from the village who has been assisting to hoist and wire the Pandol, claims over 25 years of association with the Pandol, after taking over the task from his father.

Prefects Guild at wesak Lantern Festival

The Prefects guild of Dharmaraja with the patronage of the Old Prefects Association participated for the wesak Lantern completion held in Kandy Town for the second consecutive year.

This year they have made a commendable effort to build an attractive and colorful exhibit. It was highly praised by the spectators.

The Training Camp For The Presidents Scouts Award
Troop No 04 - January 12-15th

A training camp was held for the Prospective Presidents Scouts Award applicants of the troop no 4of 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group at Lake View Park Scout Center from 12-15th of January 2006.

The camp enabled the scouts to sharpen their knowledge for the upcoming Presidents Scout Award Camp tests.

The Pirith and Dhana at Lake View Park International Scout Centre

Lake View Park International Scout Centre – 7 & 8th Janury 2006

For the past several years the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group and the Old Rajans Scout Association started off their calenders with obtaining blessings from Maha Sanga and offering Dhana.

Keeping with the tradition the Group continued the Pririth and Dhana ceremony on 7& 8th Of January 2006 at the Lake View Park International Scout center, Dharmaraja College, Kandy.



The Den building was arranged for the Pririth Preaching and was decorated with lights. The preaching started on the early evening and continued for about 2 hours.



The Principal, Group Scout Leader, Scouts, members of Old Rajans Scout Association, Parents and well wishers were present at the event.



The next Day morning the scouts were busy preparing the Adventure Cabin for the offering of Dhana. Mr Asith Edirisooriya of the Old Rajans Scout Association took the challenge of organizing the Dhana as the past years, The college scout group and the Old Rajans Scouts gave him the fullest cooperation.



The event started off with Maha Sanga arriving at around 11.15am. Around 100 College Boys, Scout and Old Scout were present at the event.



The event was jointly organized by the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group and the Old Rajans Scout Association. Appreciations to the organizing committee for organizing a successful event.

Dharmaraja Scouts Start the Year With A Prith & Dhana Ceremony

The 1st kandy Scout Group will start there Annual Programme for the year 2006 with a Prith and A Dhana ceremony at The Lake View Park International Scout Center, Dharmaraja College, Kandy on 7 & 8th January 2006.

The Prith Ceremony will be held at the Lake View Park on Saturday, the 7th of January,2006 starting from 5pm onwards.

The follwing day the Dhana(Alms Giiving) will be held at the same venue at 10.30am.

The event is jointly organised by the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group and the Old Rajans Scout Association.
